Passengers can get up to 600€ from Aeromexico in compensation for their cancelled flight, as per EC 261. Even though it's not a European airline. This applies to all flights departing from the EU, operated by the Mexican air carrier.
Indeed, some of Aeromexico’s flights are cancelled, leaving passengers into a lot of trouble. The airline isn’t always responsible, of course - in some cases, the decision is out of their control. But when Aeromexico is responsible, it's only fair that passengers are entitled to compensation.
In the event of the cancellation of one of their flight, the airline is required to let the passengers know at least 14 days prior to departure. If Aeromexico failed to do so and was responsible for the cancellation, you may be entitled to compensation under EC261. The exact amount varies based on multiple criterias, including the length of the delay (if you reach your destination despite the cancellation) and how long in advance were you notified of the schedule change (if you were at all).
The easiest option to know how much the airline owes you is to use our Flight Cancellation Compensation Calculator.
And remember: if the airline cancels your flight, they also have to offer you a choice between a rebooking on an alternate flight to your destination as soon as possible (provided that seats are available) or the refund of your ticket. That’s independent to your right to compensation.
You might be entitled to up to 600€ from the airline!
The tab below provides specific data regarding the airline's on-time performance. It includes the amount of flights operated by the airline each month, which portion of these flight arrived on time (i.e with less than 15 minutes delay), which portion consists of delayed flights, and the average delay of their flights in minutes. Airlines do their best to respect their initial schedule - but that doesn’t prevent them from arriving late from time to time. While some delays are minors, those above 3 hours are particularly annoying for their passengers. ClaimCompass seeks to turn that bad experience into a better one by helping travellers who suffered from such a delay get up to 600€ in compensation for their trouble.
The EU law known as EC261 is the reference for the protection of air passenger rights. It states that in cases of long flight delays, airlines must pay flight delay compensation to their passengers. However, if the delay was caused by circumstances out of Aeromexico’s control, then the airline doesn’t have to pay. These are called "extraordinary circumstances".
The amount of your compensation varies according to the distance of your journey, from 250€ to 600€. You can use our Compensation Calculator for Flight Delays to determine how much you are entitled to in less than 2 minutes. All we need is your flight number, itinerary, and a few more info.
Unfortunately, Aeromexico isn’t part of the most cooperative airlines when it comes to processing their passengers’ claims for delayed or cancelled flight, as the data below suggests.
That being said, at ClaimCompass, we’re dealing with Aeromexico on a regular basis and have already helped passengers get their compensation. If you’ve had a delayed or cancelled flight with Aeromexico, we will help you get the money that is owed to you.
