Although it isn't a European airline, the EU Regulation 261/2004 stil applies to Aerolineas Argentinas flights departing from Europe. This means that if your flight from the EU with the Argentinian airline arrived later than scheduled, you can get a compensation for your flight delay of up to 600€. Note that in order to be eligible, the plane must reach its destination at least 3 hours later than planned. Keep also in mind that it is the delay at arrival that matters, not at departure.
Airlines operate hundreds of flights every month - even thousands or tens of thousands for the largest ones. It’s no surprise that a portion of these flights is delayed. Aerolíneas Argentinas are no exception: some of the airline’s flights arrive later than planned at their destination.
When Aerolíneas Argentinas could have avoided the delay but failed to do so, it’s only fair that passengers get compensated. That’s what the European law states. EC261 protects your passenger rights and requires airlines to pay up to 600€ per passenger in compensation for flight delays. The amount varies according to the distance of the journey. Flight cancellations are arguably worse than delays. Just like any other airline, Aerolíneas Argentinas sometimes cancels a flight. They will do everything they can to rebook you on another flight at no extra cost. Know that if the arrangement doesn’t suit your travel plans, you can also ask the refund of your cancelled flight’s ticket.
Don’t forget that as long as there are seats available on another flight to your destination, Aerolíneas Argentinas is obligated to rebook you on that flight. You don’t have to spend anything - even if the seat is in a higher class.
The EU Regulation 261/2004 also protects your passenger rights when your flight is cancelled. If the airline hasn’t warned you at least 14 days in advance, then you could be entitled to up to 600€.
