Passengers can get up to 600€ from Aeromexico in compensation for their cancelled flight, as per EC 261. Even though it's not a European airline. This applies to all flights departing from the EU, operated by the Mexican air carrier.
Indeed, some of Aeromexico’s flights are cancelled, leaving passengers into a lot of trouble. The airline isn’t always responsible, of course - in some cases, the decision is out of their control. But when Aeromexico is responsible, it's only fair that passengers are entitled to compensation.
In the event of the cancellation of one of their flight, the airline is required to let the passengers know at least 14 days prior to departure. If Aeromexico failed to do so and was responsible for the cancellation, you may be entitled to compensation under EC261. The exact amount varies based on multiple criterias, including the length of the delay (if you reach your destination despite the cancellation) and how long in advance were you notified of the schedule change (if you were at all).
