Airlines do their best to respect their initial schedule - but that doesn’t prevent them from arriving late from time to time. In the case of Vueling, however, delays seem to be the norm rather than the exception. The Spanish air carrier is indeed one of the worst airlines in the world for its lack of punctuality and terrible claim processing system.

The EU law known as EC261 is the reference for the protection of air passenger rights. It states that in cases of long flight delays, airlines must pay flight delay compensation to their passengers. Some of Vueling’s flights are also cancelled, leaving passengers into even more trouble. The airline isn’t always responsible, of course - in some cases, called extraordinary circumstances, the decision is out of their control. But when Vueling is responsible, passengers are once again entitled to compensation.
In the event of the cancellation of one of their flight, the airline is required to let the passengers know at least 14 days prior to departure. If Vueling failed to do so and was responsible for the flight cancellation, you may be entitled to flight cancellation compensation under EC261.
And remember: if the airline cancels your flight, they also have to offer you a choice between a rebooking on an alternate flight to your destination as soon as possible (provided that seats are available) or the refund of your ticket. That’s independent of your right to compensation.
