If you have a valid cancelled or delayed flight compensation claim with United Airlines, fear not! The air carrier provides great service when it comes to handling claims.
You can bring on board one full-sized carry-on bag plus one personal item free of charge (e.g. shoulder bag, purse, laptop bag etc.).
If you have purchased Basic Economy, you will only be allowed one personal item - if you bring a full-sized carry-on bag to the gate, you will be required to check their bag and pay the applicable checked bag fee plus a $25 gate handling charge.
If you are a Premier® member or a primary card member using a qualifying MileagePlus credit card, you are allowed to bring a full-size carry-on bag as well as a personal item, even when traveling on Basic Economy.
Since January 15, 2018, “if you plan to check a smart bag that has charging capabilities, you must remove the lithium battery and carry it with you. For carry-on smart bags, the removable lithium battery must be either powered off or removed before boarding. Smart bags that do not have a removable battery cannot travel on United flights”.
